Skepticblog did a nice piece on the decline of cable TV. It's more or less a demonstration of how, over time, capitalism eats away at the quality and integrity of everything. It does this by promoting a business plan that persistently reduces everything to the lowest common denominator in order to maximize profits, and nowhere is it more evident than in our cable TV channels. Regarding the case of cable TV, and particularly those channels that are supposed to be focused on "science," one can either conclude they have been ruined by the free market system, or the 18-23 year-old male demographic is to blame.
